You can easily switch at the cheapest hours of the day. That way, you can make the most of your dynamic tariffs without paying too much!

Understanding your dynamic costs

In the HomeWizard Energy app, you can easily enter your dynamic tariffs. The app’s graphs calculate your costs and show them on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis. This way, you will know exactly how much you spend on gas, electricity, and water. The current hourly rates per kWh are loaded automatically. You only have to enter the VAT rate and other costs per kWh yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I find the (other) costs of my dynamic tariffs? Arrow

You will find the costs for your dynamic tariffs on your energy supplier’s invoice.

How do these costs come about? Arrow

Dynamic tariffs are energy prices that vary based on supply and demand in the energy market. Instead of a fixed rate per kWh, you pay a rate that can vary hourly. Several factors determine the cost of dynamic rates:

  • Supply and demand: When energy demand is high, such as during evening hours when many people are home, prices rise. But when demand is low, prices fall, such as during the day and night. This can also be the case when there is more supply than demand, such as when it is very sunny, or when there is a lot of wind.
  • Taxes and charges: Besides the base price per kWh, taxes such as VAT and grid management charges are added to the total cost.
  • Supply costs: Your energy supplier charges for delivering the energy to your home. These costs often vary between suppliers.
Why are dynamic rates beneficial? Arrow

Dynamic rates allow you to take advantage of energy price fluctuations by purchasing energy during the cheapest hours. This is cheaper and encourages the use of renewable energy sources when they are most available, contributing to a more stable and efficient energy network. With our dynamic rate task, you automatically switch your appliances at the cheapest hours of the day.

How do I set up a dynamic tariff task? (what do I need to do this) Arrow

You need the Energy app, an Energy Socket, and a subscription to Energy+ to set up a dynamic tariff task.

Can I set multiple tasks for different devices? Arrow

Yes, you can set up multiple smart tasks for different devices by creating new tasks in the Energy app.

Can I also switch when the power is free? Arrow

It is not possible to automatically switch when energy prices are negative. For power to be free, there must be a substantial energy surplus generated by solar and wind power and a shortage of demand. When consumption is low, and there is much more supply than demand, prices can fall below zero. Still, power is rarely truly free because of energy taxes, VAT, and supply costs.

How do I link Home Connect to my Energy app? Arrow

You can easily link Home Connect to the Energy app by going to ‘Meters > Add Device’ and selecting Home Connect. Follow the steps in the app to connect your devices and then set smart tasks to switch smartly when power is the cheapest.
